ABOUT US:

The Community of Owners of Eden Mar was built in 1966 thanks to the construction and promotion carried out by Don Aurelio Jorge Gorriz during the years that this great architectural work lasted.

The essence of Eden Mar has always been the inspiration from the Valentina Tower, a building built at the end of the 15th century in front of Sant Antoni beach in the municipality of Calonge in the Baix Empordà region, created for coastal defense against of the pirates

Torre Valentina is a protected monument listed as a cultural asset of national interest and is distinguished by the fact that there is no access from the inside through stairs or windows, but rather it had to be accessed from the outside .

The construction philosophy of Eden Mar was always based on integration with the surroundings of the area, one of the entrances to the urbanization is dominated by two dolmens that refer to the Iberian settlement established in the 4th century BC, it has two towers , one low and one high. Eden Mar’s tall tower is intended to be a modern replica of the Valentina Tower in its day.

The Roman civilization chose Sant Antoni de Calonge as a summer town in the 2nd to 4th centuries after Christ and until now it has maintained this important attraction for tourism from all over.

Eden Mar has direct access to the beach and from it you can see the bays of Palamós and Calonge, areas of great fishermen. Its three swimming pools reflect the importance of the sea throughout history for this unique enclave on the Costa Brava.

Sant Antoni de Calonge is the maritime part of the municipality of Calonge which has about 11,000 inhabitants and began its important development at the end of the 18th century thanks to the fishing settlements with the disappearance of piracy on the Costa Brava.

From Eden Mar we can walk the Camí de Ronda that connects Palamós with Platja d’Aro. Walking calmly towards Platja d’Aro we find the towers of Guaita, bunkers from the civil war, fishermen’s huts, the Collet, the Roman Furnace of Treumal, the chapel of Sant Jordi, Cap Roig and the Roques Blanques and many more places with history.

For more than 50 years, Eden Mar has been faithful to all this history through its different presidents of the community of owners who have lived through the passage of several generations.
